Meaningful Questions to Ask Potential Vendors

In life we choose people to be a part of our inner circle because we trust them and know they have our back. They might not be perfect 100% of the time, but they always have our best interests at heart and will stop at almost nothing to ensure our bond is strong. We don't think a wedding vendor should be much different. You're talking about the team that you're entrusting to pull off a very important, very expensive day, with little no problem. So how do you actually select the right vendors?

There are a lot of wedding magazine articles out there that will give you many questions to ask your potential vendors. Speaking specifically from our Entertainment perspective, we will be pretty honest when we say those questions won't always tell you whether or not a vendor is a great fit for you. The questions about our equipment and fees are important in understanding whether or not we're professional with a fair pricing structure, but they won't tell you who we are at the core of our company.

Here are the top 5 questions we love being asked because it allows us to have a more meaningful conversation beyond pricing and insurance:

  1. Why are you in the wedding business?
  2. What is your favorite part of a wedding you're working?
  3. What will you bring to our wedding vendor team?
  4. Have you ever had a mishap working a wedding? If so, how did you handle it?
  5. What's the most challenging part of the services you offer and how do you overcome that obstacle?

You see, we're a company of real people, who have been through the planning process ourselves. We have learned not only from our years in the industry, but also from our own first-hand experiences. Choosing a wedding vendor shouldn't just be about picking a package based on a price. There's a whole lot numbers cannot tell you about the people behind them. When couples inquire with us, we like to be very open with our pricing because we believe in it, but very rarely will we let it deter someone from inquiring further. Everyone knows you get what you pay for--it doesn't matter what good or service you're shopping for--but if you believe in our company so much you want to work with us, we want to work with you because that's where the magic happens.
